ARKHANGELSK, March 17. /TASS/. A new business resident of the Russian Federation's Arctic Zone will build a surfing and other water sports training center in Arkhangelsk. The sports complex will start operating in 2029, the Arkhangelsk Region Administration's press service told reports.
"Our complex will be the only sports center with an artificial wave in Arkhangelsk," the press service quoted the business resident's representative Anna Frundina as saying. "We focus on the sports component: in our club, everyone will be able to become skillful in SUP surfing, and this may be done any time, regardless of weather conditions. This is very important for professional athletes who need to work out even in winter."
That will be a comfortable two-storey sports complex for water sports training. Under an agreement with the Corporation for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic, the investment will make 29.7 million rubles ($347,000). The artificial wave technology means that 400 surfers may be trained per month. The complex is for year-round training, competitions and water sports research.
The Arkhangelsk Region offers to business residents income tax benefits: for the first five years from the date of first profit, a rate of 5% will be applied, and for the next five years - 10%. The businesses pay lower corporate property tax: the first five years - 0.1%, the next five years - 1.1%.
Since the beginning of 2025, the region has registered 6 new business residents with investments of more than 4 billion rubles ($47 million), planning more than 70 new jobs.
