Cargo transfer in Russian seaports down 2.5% in 2024 to 862 mln tons

The Transport Ministry said earlier that cargo transfer in the country’s seaports in 2024 was expected to remain at the level of the previous year and total 884 mln tons

MOSCOW, February 11. /TASS/. Cargo transfer in Russian seaports amounted to 862 mln tons in 2024, according to information released on the Transport Ministry’s Telegram channel.

That brings last year’s decrease in freight transfer in seaports compared with 884 mln tons in 2023 to 2.5%. The Federal Agency for Sea and Inland Water Transport (Rosmorrechflot) said earlier that cargo turnover of Russian seaports increased by 5% in 2023 compared with the previous year to 883.8 mln tons.

The Transport Ministry said earlier that cargo transfer in the country’s seaports in 2024 was expected to remain at the level of the previous year and total 884 mln tons.

Head of the Federal Agency for Sea and Inland Water Transport Andrey Tarasenko has said that this year’s freight transfer in Russian seaports would be at last year’s level. Meanwhile the agency expected a 7% rise in cargo turnover to over 950 mln tons earlier.
