MOSCOW, February 4. /TASS/. Tourist flows between Russia and Iran have increased significantly over the past five years, Iranian Ambassador to Moscow Kazem Jalali told reporters without providing specific numbers.
"All us Russians and Iranians need to visit each other more often and see what's going on with our own eyes. I can say that earlier, say, five years ago, tourist flows were small, less than what we would like, but over the past five years, there are signs of a very good growth in tourist exchange," he noted.
The ambassador stressed that an increase in tourist trips by Russian citizens to Iran was observed already in 2024. Jalali added that Russians view Iran as an inexpensive country with a good climate.
"According to statistics from Russian travel agencies, in terms of the number of foreign tourists to Russia, China ranks first and Iran ranks second. I am confident that this year and next we will manage to develop tourist exchanges as well," he said.
