Under Arctic Hectare Program 2,000 applicants receive land plots in 2024

In Arctic regions, more than 600 people have registered property rights or long-term rent - for the total area of 166 hectares

MOSCOW, December 10. /TASS/. About 2,000 applicants received land plots under the Arctic Hectare Program in 2024, press service of the Ministry for Development of the Far East and Arctic told TASS.

"To date, 9,714 people have participated in the Arctic Hectare Program, where 2,000 applicants have received land plots in the current year," the press service said. "The total area of plots allocated since the beginning of the year has reached 1,427 hectares."

In Arctic regions, more than 600 people have registered property rights or long-term rent - for the total area of 166 hectares. Most often, the program participants use land for house construction (73%) and agricultural projects (10%).

Earlier, Minister for Development of the Far East and Arctic Alexey Chekunkov reported 145,000 people had used the Far Eastern and Arctic Hectare Program.

The Far Eastern Hectare state program began in 2016. In 2021, it was extended to the Russian Federation Arctic Zone's land plots as well as to land plots in the North and Siberia (Arctic Hectare). Under this program, applicants may get land for free and farm on it, build a house, and develop tourism.
