Russia's trade ties with Iran stable, reliable, trade turnover growing — Putin

There are also good prospects in the work with the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), the president said

MOSCOW, December 4. /TASS/. Russia has stable and reliable trade ties with Iran, while trade turnover is on the rise, President Vladimir Putin said at the VTB Russia Calling! Investment Forum, adding that the two countries also have major joint projects, including in the energy and security sectors.

"Regarding bilateral relations, our trade and economic ties are stable, reliable; we will surely register an increase in trade turnover this year. We have good major projects both in the area of logistics, and in the energy sector, in the industrial sector, and in the security area," he said.

There are also good prospects in the work with the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), Putin added. "Here we have an agreement on a free trade zone signed," he said. "The Iranian leadership has expressed interest in working more closely with the EAEU, including as a permanent observer. We only welcome it," the president noted.

Putin also said that he expects a new fundamental agreement with Iran to be signed during President Masoud Pezeshkian’s upcoming visit to Russia. "We have finalized a fundamental agreement that handles all issues related to our future cooperation. I hope that it will be signed during the Iranian president’s upcoming visit to Russia," he said.
