Dependence of business owners on foreign governments is major threat to Russia — Putin

Russian businessmen should work for compatriots instead of leaving the country and siphoning capitals off and this is the only way of building up a strong and self-sufficient economy, the Russian leader stressed

MOSCOW, February 21. /TASS/. Chief executives and owners of major Russian business should not turn out to be in dependence on foreign governments pursuing an adverse policy against Russia, President Vladimir Putin said in his State of the Nation Address to the Federal Assembly on Tuesday.

"The major Russian business is responsible for operations of strategic companies, for labor teams of many thousand people, determines the socioeconomic situation in many regions, and therefore the state of affairs when chief executives and owners of such business turn out to be in dependence on governments implementing the unfriendly policy against Russia poses a major threat and danger for us, the danger for our country, and such situation cannot be tolerated," the President said.
