HAIKOU /China/, February 10. /TASS/. South China's Hainan province has sent its rescue workers to help Turkey deal with the aftermath of a devastating earthquake that hit the country on Monday this week. This was reported by the People's Daily newspaper.
According to the paper, Hainan authorities have selected three of the 16 local volunteers who have asked to go to Turkey. After arriving there, they immediately joined the rescue efforts.
The magnitude 7.7 earthquake struck Kahramanmaras province in southeastern Turkey on Monday. Another powerful strike of similar magnitude was reported soon after the first. According to the latest data, over 18 thousand people died in the country and more than 74 thousand people were injured.
