Russia’s railway traffic with friendly countries rises by 23% in 2022

MOSCOW, February 6. /TASS/. The volume of railway cargo transportation between Russia and friendly countries rose by 23% in 2022, while rail transportation with unfriendly countries fell by 40%, CEO of Russian Railways Oleg Belozerov said at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"The volume of cargo transportation with friendly countries increased by 23%, and with unfriendly countries - fell by almost 40% from 365 mln to 210 mln [tons], and this trend continues," he said.

In addition, Belozerov added that due to Russia redirecting logistics flows to the east, the volume of traffic in this direction exceeded the volume of traffic to the west. Thus, 80 mln metric tons of cargo was transported to the east last year, and 76 mln metric tons of cargo - to the west.

Earlier, Russian Railways reported that loading on the holding's networks in 2022 decreased by 3.8% compared to the level of 2021 and reached 1.234 bln metric tons.
