Krasnoyarsk Region eyes building small nuclear power plants in northern districts

On November 23-24, Krasnoyarsk hosts the 8th Siberian energy forum

KRASNOYARSK, November 23. /TASS/. The Krasnoyarsk Region jointly with Rosatom considers building small nuclear power plants in the northern districts, the region's Minister of Industry, Energy and Housing Alexander Ananyev told the Siberian energy forum on Wednesday.

"We have been working with Rosatom, <…> since implementation of such projects (small nuclear power plants - TASS) will give a strong impetus to development of the Arctic districts, where nuclear units will produce electricity and heat energy," the official said.

On November 23-24, Krasnoyarsk hosts the 8th Siberian energy forum.
