Russian Railways says almost 100 mln passengers carried in September, up 13.7% y-o-y

It is noted that suburban passenger turnover equaled 2.9 bln pass-km, up by 18.1%

MOSCOW, October 3. /TASS/. Russian Railways’ network carried 99.9 mln passengers in September 2022, up by 13.7% year-on-year, the press service of the company reported on Monday.

"According to the latest figures, in September 2022 the infrastructure of Russian Railways transported 99.9 mln passengers, up by 13.7% year-on-year," the report said.

The number of suburban passengers rose by 13.1% to 90.6 mln people, while the number of long-distance passengers added 20.6% to 9.4 mln people, the holding said.

Passenger turnover totaled 11.5 bln passenger-kilometers last month, up by 28.2% year-on-year, the company said. Suburban passenger turnover equaled 2.9 bln pass-km, up by 18.1%, while long-distance passenger turnover amounted to almost 8.6 bln pass-km, up by 32.1%.

In January-September 2022, 850.8 mln passengers were carried, an increase of 8.5% year-on-year, including 767.3 mln suburban passengers (+7.8% year-on-year), and 83 mln long-distance passengers (+15.3%), Russian Railways said.

Year-to-date passenger turnover gained 17% year-on-year to 95.9 bln pass-km, including 23.8 bln pass-km of suburban turnover (+9.1%), and 72 bln pass-km of long-distance turnover (+19.8%).
