MOSCOW, April 13. /TASS/. The sweeping majority of foreign companies want to stay in Russia, First Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Belousov said addressing the Federation Council on Wednesday.

"I would like to tell you that the overwhelming number of foreign companies - I have met many their heads here - want to stay now. They are in the format of decisions made by their headquarters, whose position is mainly ‘neither here nor there, we will see how the situation unfolds’," he explained.

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a special military operation based on a request from the heads of the Donbass republics, noting that Moscow had no plans to occupy Ukrainian territories. In response, the United States, the European Union, the United Kingdom and a number of other countries announced sanctions on Russian individuals and legal entities. Numerous foreign companies have announced the suspension of operations in Russia.
