Putin approves launch of new preferential lending program for business

The preferential loan rate will be 3%

MOSCOW, February 24. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin has approved launching a new annual lending program FOT [Wage Fund - TASS] 3.0 for the businessmen, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said on Wednesday.

"The president approved the decision to launch the new annual FOT 3.0 program. Terms will slightly change in it: the preferential loan rate will be 3%, rather than 2," the prime minister said. "This is a small increase, considering the gradual recovery of the economy," Mishustin said.

Companies will get opportunities for growth. The business will not pay the principal and the loan interest under the new program during first six months, the prime minister noted. "This can be done by equal installments monthly in the second half of the year only. Furthermore, businesses from micro and small to major ones from the least recovered industries will; be eligible for the program now," he said.

"About 75,000 entrepreneurs and companies with about 1.5 mln persons working in them can potentially take advantage of this program," Mishustin said. "Such a government support measure will give a new impetus for development to the business," he added.

Businessmen have earlier given a high estimate to the FOT 2.0 preferential lending program provided in the national plan, the prime minister said. It stimulated the business from exposed sectors to keep jobs and became one of the most successful measures in support of small and medium businesses, Mishustin noted. "The program is ending but a range of industries has not yet recovered to the pre-crisis level. This is the sphere of public catering, culture, sports, entertainment, event organization, the tourist business and others. All of them still need the government support in this challenging time," he added.
