Putin orders to wrap up deals on Cargo traffic via Northern Sea Route before September

The Northern Sea Route is the main sea route in the Russian Arctic

MOSCOW, March 29. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed the government to ensure concluding before September 1 of long-term legally binding agreements on the volume and cost of transporting goods along the Northern Sea Route The instruction was given after a meeting with the government held on February 27, 2019.

The document instructed the government "to ensure concluding long-term legally binding agreements with consignors on the volume and cost of transporting goods along the Northern Sea Route. The deadline is September 1, 2019".

Putin also instructed the government, together with Rosatom state corporation, to identify sources of financing and conduct dredging operations at the Utrenny liquefied natural gas and condensate terminal in Sabetta seaport in 2019

The Northern Sea Route is the main sea route in the Russian Arctic. The Russian Ministry of The route crosses seas of the Arctic Ocean (Kara, Laptev, East Siberian, and Chukotka) and partially the Pacific Ocean (the Bering Sea). The Northern Sea Route from the Kara Gate to the Providence Bay is around 5,600 km long.
