MOSCOW, March 21. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin has given instructions to establish an unmanned aviation development center in the Samara Region, which will include a drone institute based at Togliatti State University under its umbrella, with the list of instructions published on the Kremlin website.
"The Russian government, in conjunction with the Samara Region’s government, are tasked with issues around the establishment of the center on the development of unmanned aviation in the Samara Region, including the creation of an unmanned aviation institute as part of the federally funded higher education institute, the Togliatti State University," the list of instructions stated.
A report on the implementation of the order must be submitted to the head of state by June 15. The officials in charge are Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin and Samara Region Governor Vyacheslav Fedorishchev.
The regional authorities' intentions to create an institute on unmanned aerial systems within the Togliatti State University were made public during the Russian president's working trip to the Samara region on January 28, 2025. The university intends to use the method of training qualified drone specialists from secondary professional education to higher education. Initially, the project can be implemented in the format of network programs involving leading universities.
