Initial results of probe into air crash near Kiev could be published in four to six weeks

MOSCOW, March 1. /TASS/. Preliminary results of the investigation into the helicopter crash in the town of Brovary near Kiev, which killed Ukrainian Interior Minister Denis Monastyrsky, are set to be released in four to six weeks, Igor Klimenko, the current interior minister, said on Wednesday.

"As soon as all the examinations that we conducted with our colleagues from France’s [aircraft manufacturer] Airbus are completed, as soon as the investigations are completed in our country, then there will be a general picture that we will be able to communicate to the public," he said on Rada television. Asked about when the preliminary investigation could be wrapped up, the minister replied that it would take "a month or a month and a half."

On January 18, a helicopter crashed in a residential area of Brovary, killing Interior Minister Denis Monastyrsky, his first deputy Yevgeny Yenin and another top ministry official Yury Lubkovich. According to the State Emergencies Service, a total of 14 people were killed and 25 were injured, including 11 children. The causes of the accident have not yet been officially named, and an investigation is underway. On February 7, the Ukrainian legislature appointed Igor Klimenko as the interior minister.
