Putin offers condolences to president of Indonesia over deadly earthquake

The Russian president conveyed his sympathy to the friends and families of the victims

MOSCOW, December 7. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin has offered condolences to the President of Indonesia Joko Widodo over the deadly earthquake which claimed numerous lives and caused serious damage in the province of Aceh. 

According to the Kremlin press service, "the Head of state conveyed his sympathy to the friends and families of the victims and wished speedy recovery to the injured." 

According to the preliminary estimates, the death toll has climbed to 97, over 200 people were injured. A 6.4 magnitude earthquake hit Indonesia on Wednesday at 05:03 local time (10:03 pm GMT Tuesday). The earthquake epicenter was located 92 kilometers east of the city of Banda Aceh on the northern coast of the island of Sumatra, at a depth of ten kilometers.
