TEL AVIV, March 28. /TASS/. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have attacked a facility storing unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) belonging to the Shia Hezbollah movement in Beirut’s suburb of Dahieh, the army press service reported.
"The IDF struck a terrorist infrastructure site used to store UAVs by Hezbollah's Aerial Unit (127) in the area of Dahieh, a key Hezbollah terrorist stronghold in Beirut," the statement said.
The military press office added that the army "issued advance warnings to the civilian population in the area" prior to the attack.
The IDF stated that "The Hezbollah terrorist organization systematically embeds its terrorist infrastructure amidst the Lebanese civilian population." "A clear example of Hezbollah's cynical exploitation of Lebanese civilians as human shields," it added.
The military noted that the strike against Dahieh was a response to an earlier attack on Israel. "This morning (Friday), projectiles were fired from Lebanon toward the Upper Galilee area in northern Israel. This attack constitutes a blatant violation of the understandings between Israel and Lebanon [regarding a ceasefire] and poses a direct threat to the civilians of the State of Israel," the press service said. "The State of Lebanon bears responsibility for upholding the [ceasefire] agreement," the army added, noting that the IDF "will continue operating in order to remove any threat to the civilians of the State of Israel."
Earlier on Friday, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz blamed the Lebanese government for the attack on northern Israel. A statement by the army press office said that a total of two munitions were launched at Israel from the territory of Lebanon, with one of them intercepted. According to the military, air-raid sirens went off in the settlements of Kiryat Shmona, Margaliot, Misgav Am and Tel Hai in the north of the country due to this shelling. The Israeli army reported targeting a Beirut suburb for the first time since November 26, 2024.
