BEIJING, February 25. /TASS/. Beijing has always opposed illegitimate unilateral sanctions not approved by the UN Security Council, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lin Jian said, commenting on Canada’s move to impose restrictions on a number of Chinese companies for allegedly cooperating with Russia in the field of defense.
"China has always opposed the introduction of unilateral sanctions that lack approval by the UN Security Council and have no basis in terms of international law," the diplomat pointed out in response to a question.
He added that China had already made a representation to Canada regarding the situation, and emphasized that the measures China took to control the export of drones and their components were among the strictest in the world.
Earlier, the Canadian authorities blacklisted 76 individuals and entities over the situation in Ukraine. Some of the sanctioned entities are based in China.
