The US president expressed confidence that the Russian leadership wanted peace

WASHINGTON, February 14. /TASS/. US President Donald Trump has said that he trusts Russian leader Vladimir Puitn in terms of resolving the Ukraine issue.

He made the statement while talking to reporters at the White House.

When asked if he believed that the Russian leadership wanted peace in Ukraine, the US president said: "I believe he [Putin] wants peace." "I know him very well. Yeah, I think he wants peace. I think he would tell me if he didn't," Trump emphasized.

He also answered in the affirmative to the question of whether he trusted the Russian leader in terms of resolving the Ukraine conflict. "Yeah, I believe that he would like to see something happen. I trust him on this subject. I think he'd like to see something happen. I think it could have happened a long time ago," the US president said.
