NATO must aspire to prevent conflict of great powers in Europe — Pentagon

According to Pete Hegseth, "the US is committed to building a stronger, more lethal NATO"

BRUSSELS, February 13. /TASS/. NATO’s strategic goal should be preventing a conflict of great powers in Europe, among others, US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth said at a press conference in Brussels following a meeting of NATO defense ministers.

"First, as we see it, NATO's strategic objectives are to prevent great power conflict in Europe, deter nuclear and non-nuclear aggression and defeat threats to treaty allies, should deterrence fail," the Pentagon chief said.

According to him, "the US is committed to building a stronger, more lethal NATO. However, we must ensure that European and Canadian commitment to Article Three of this treaty is just as strong." According to Article Three of the NATO Treaty, members of the North Atlantic alliance must maintain and develop their individual and collective capacity to resist armed attack.
