Wagenknecht won’t visit Ukraine while Ukrainian officials threaten her

The lawmaker is on Ukraine’s Peacemaker extremist website

BERLIN, February 7. /TASS/. Sahra Wagenknecht, a Bundestag lawmaker and leader of the Sahra Wagenknecht Alliance - Reason and Justice party, who is also a candidate for the German chancellorship, said that she does not think it is possible for her to go to Ukraine as long as Ukrainian officials are threatening her.

"I don't think I can go there as long as Ukrainian officials are threatening me with, let’s say, death," Wagenknecht said during a ZDF TV broadcast when asked if she would go to Ukraine to see what is happening with her own eyes.

Wagenknecht is on Ukraine’s Peacemaker extremist website. The site was created in 2014. Its purpose is to identify and publish the personal data of anyone who allegedly threatens Ukraine's national security.

The Sahra Wagenknecht Alliance - Reason and Justice party was formed in January 2024, amid the growing popularity of Wagenknecht. The party had previously decided to nominate Wagenknecht as its candidate for chancellor in the upcoming elections. This is an informal status given to the leaders of party lists in Germany, as the leader of the winning political force usually becomes chancellor. At the same time, Wagenknecht has virtually no chance of leading the German government, as support for her party currently stands at 6% of the total number of voters. The main message of her campaign remains the achievement of peace in Europe; Wagenknecht regularly criticizes the German authorities for sending weapons to Kiev.
