MEXICO CITY, February 4. /TASS/. The US administration has issued waivers, or exemptions, for life-saving humanitarian assistance during a 90-day pause in foreign aid, with a larger part of such programs being already resumed, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said.
"We froze foreign aid so that we can review those programs. The waiver process exists so that we can review those programs. Today, here, we've issued waivers for programs that make all the sense in the world," he said at a joint news conference with Costa Rica’s President Rodrigo Chaves.
According to Rubio, waivers were issued for programs that "make America safer, make America stronger." In his words, these are "life-saving programs." "We have a blanket waiver. It's been out for a week," he added.
