PARIS, December 3. /TASS/. Some European countries are discussing the possibility of sending their troops to Ukraine to monitor a ceasefire should one be achieved, Agence France-Presse (AFP) reports, citing sources.
According to the news outlet, discussions aren’t taking place within NATO but between countries. That said, the issue of troop deployment to Ukraine will not be addressed at the bloc’s meeting on December 3-4.
US President-elect Donald Trump vowed during his election campaign that he would bring peace to Ukraine within 24 hours; however, he did not explain how he planned to do that. NATO sources told the AFP that European countries were worried they might be excluded from the potential settlement process, so some of them were looking for ways to make sure they had a place at the negotiating table.
