Lawyers are working to solve problem with US sanctions against Gazprombank — Szijjarto

"Supplies of energy resources from Russia are playing an important role in providing for security of energy supplies to Hungary," the minister said

BUDAPEST, December 2. /TASS/. Lawyers are working to solve the problem with payments for Russian gas supplies to Hungary caused by US sanctions against Gazprombank, Hungary’s Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said after the meeting with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak and representatives of Russian energy companies.

"Lawyers in the energy sphere and financial lawyers are already working on a solution that will help us to cope with the situation caused by US sanctions [against Gazprombank] and provide for security of energy supplies to Hungary in the future. So the solution will be found soon and we will do everything possible to provide for security of energy supplies to Hungary," Szijjarto said in a video address posted on his page in Facebook (banned in Russia, owned by Meta recognized as extremist in Russia).

"Supplies of energy resources from Russia are playing an important role in providing for security of energy supplies to Hungary," the minister said. "This is not a political issue" but the reality, Szijjarto noted. "The infrastructure is such that we in Hungary use a big quantity of natural gas, oil and nuclear fuel of the Russian origin," he added.
