CARACAS, November 11. /TASS/. Venezuela stands in solidarity with the brotherly people of Cuba and is ready to provide necessary assistance to address the aftermath of the earthquakes that struck the island on Sunday, the republic's Foreign Ministry stated in a communique posted on the Telegram channel of the country's top diplomat Yvan Gil Pinto.
"The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela expresses its full solidarity with the fraternal people and government of the Republic of Cuba following the two strong earthquakes, with magnitudes of 6.0 and 6.8, that shook the entire island," the Foreign Ministry stated.
The people of Venezuela "unconditionally support the brotherly people of Cuba in times of trouble and are ready to provide all necessary assistance that may be required," the communique emphasized. The Venezuelan government "reaffirms its solidarity and support" for the Cuban people "in the current difficult situation," the ministry added.
A 6.8 magnitude earthquake was recorded off the coast of Cuba, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center reported on Sunday. The epicenter was located 41 km south of the municipality of Bartolome Maso in Granma province, home to 53,000 people, at a depth of 17 kilometers. No casualties or damage were reported, and no tsunami threat was declared. Earlier, a 6.0 magnitude earthquake was reported 34 km southeast of Bartolome Maso.
