Israel’s aggressive policy threatens Middle East stability, Lebanese PM warns

Najib Mikati emphasized that his country’s government regularly informs the UN Security Council about Israeli attacks on Lebanese territory

BEIRUT, April 15. /TASS/. The international community needs to address Israel's aggressive policy in the Middle East, as the whole region is now being destabilized, Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati told a government meeting.

"Israel, through its actions, is dragging Lebanon and the entire region into war, and the UN Security Council should take measures to stop this," the prime minister said, quoted by Lebanon 24 news portal.

Mikati emphasized that his country’s government regularly informs the UN Security Council about Israeli attacks on Lebanese territory. "We are not in favor of war, we cannot remain silent about Israel's attacks and its violations of Lebanese airspace," he pointed out.

On April 3, the prime minister declared farmlands in southern Lebanon a disaster zone. He cited figures indicating that the military action has left 75% of the population in the southern region destitute and 100,000 displaced.

Since the start of the military escalation in October 2023, more than 70 civilians have been killed in Israeli air raids and shelling, and 909 people have been injured.
