MOSCOW, April 5. /TASS/. The Israeli embassy in Moscow continues to function as usual amid reports of Tel Aviv having suspended operations at 28 of the Jewish state’s foreign missions around the world due to the threat of retaliation by Iran for the Israeli attack on Tehran’s diplomatic compound in Damascus, a source at the embassy told TASS.
"The Israeli embassy continues to function as usual," the source said, commenting on the statement on the matter by Sky News Arabia.
Earlier, replying to a question by TASS, Israeli Ambassador to Russia Simona Halperin did not rule out the risk of Iranian retaliatory attacks on Israeli diplomatic missions following the strike by Israel’s air force on the Syrian capital, which destroyed the Iranian consulate.
On April 4, Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei wrote on the X social media platform in Hebrew that he would make Israel repent for its decision to carry out an airstrike on Tehran’s consular office in Damascus, which killed 13 people, including two Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) generals.
Israel has not made any official statements assuming responsibility for the attack. That said, Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari told CNN earlier in the week that the strike had not targeted Iran’s consulate but an IRGC military facility, which he claimed had only been disguised as a civilian building.
