BUDAPEST, December 18. /TASS/. Turkey is ready to resume its mediation efforts in the talks on the settlement in Ukraine, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said.

"We are ready to revive the interrupted negotiation process in Istanbul on the settlement in Ukraine," Erdogan said following talks with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban in Budapest, in remarks broadcast by TRT Haber television.

According to the Turkish president, the crisis in Gaza and the conflict in Ukraine can be resolved only through peaceful means.

"We are united with [Orban] in that there is no military solution in Palestine and Ukraine," he said.

The Istanbul talks took place in March 2022. It is Ukraine’s fault that the agreements that were reached at them never materialized.

Erdogan has previously repeatedly stated Turkey's readiness to mediate a settlement in Ukraine and provide his country as a venue for renewed talks between Moscow and Kiev. The Turkish leader maintains communication with both Russian and Ukrainian presidents, Vladimir Putin and Vladimir Zelensky.
