Austria demanded that Raiffeisen Bank International be removed from Ukraine’s list of companies supporting Russia

BRUSSELS, December 14. /TASS/. Austria has stalled the European Union’s 12th package of sanctions on Moscow, demanding that Raiffeisen Bank International be removed from Ukraine’s list of companies supporting Russia, Reuters reports, citing EU sources.

According to the news outlet, the move highlights "the bank's determination to keep its profitable business" in Russia.

Reuters notes that some companies have been taken off the list, including Hungary's OTP Bank, "a move that irked Austrian officials and the bank."

The EU plans to impose its 12th package of sanctions on Russia before the end of December. It particularly bans Russian diamond imports starting on January 1, 2024.
