CAIRO, December 8. /TASS/. Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian has informed Ziyad al-Nakhalah, leader of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad group, about Tehran’s diplomatic efforts to stabilize the Gaza Strip, including the talks held by Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi in Russia, Palestinian Islamic Jihad wrote on its Telegram channel.
In the phone call, the Iranian foreign minister "briefed the movement’s leader, Ziyad al-Nakhalah, on Tehran’s diplomatic efforts in support of the Palestinian people, including the negotiations between the Iranian and Russian presidents in Moscow," the statement said.
The Iranian minister is said to have emphasized "the need for immediate and effective steps made by the international community and international institutions to put an end to [Israel’s] crimes [in the Gaza Strip]."
It was also reported that the top Iranian diplomat held a phone conversation with Ismail Haniyeh, one of the leaders of the Palestinian movement Hamas.
On December 7, Russian President Vladimir Putin held talks with his Iranian counterpart Ebrahim Raisi in Moscow. Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told TASS that the meeting lasted for over five hours and focused on both bilateral and international issues. The Israeli-Palestinian conflict was also a topic of discussion at the Putin-Raisi talks.
