DUBAI, December 5. /TASS/. At least 349 Palestinians were killed and over 750 suffered wounds in one of Israel’s heaviest air, land and sea attacks on the Gaza Strip in the past two days, Al Jazeera reported, citing United Nations data.
According to Lynn Hastings, the UN’s humanitarian coordinator for the occupied Palestinian territories, "an even more hellish scenario" is about to unfold in the enclave as conditions "do not exist" to deliver aid amid Israeli ground operations focused on southern Gaza.
Tensions in the Middle East flared up again after Hamas militants infiltrated Israel from the Gaza Strip on October 7. The Palestinian movement described its attack as a response to the actions of Israeli authorities against the Al-Aqsa Mosque on Jerusalem's Temple Mount. Israel announced a total blockade of Gaza and started carrying out strikes on the Palestinian enclave, as well as on certain areas in Lebanon and Syria. Clashes are also taking place in the West Bank.
