CSTO leaders sign declaration, several documents in Minsk

The meeting of the CSTO Council brought together six out of the organization’s five members

MINSK, November 23. /TASS/. Leaders of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), who met in the Belarusian capital Minsk on Thursday, signed a joint declaration and documents aimed at improving the organization's work, a TASS correspondent reported.

The meeting of the CSTO Council brought together six out of the organization’s five members: Russian President Vladimir Putin, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov, and Tajik President Emomali Rakhmon. Armenian President Nikol Pashinyan did not take part. However, Belarusian Foreign Minister Alexander Aleynik said CSTO Secretary General Imangali Tasmagambetov will visit Yerevan to hand over copies of the signed documents to the Armenian side.

A total of 15 documents were up for signing, including papers related to crisis response and mutual settlements. Some of the documents were related to the organization’s work, including those concerning its structure and budget.
