Israel’s refusal to stop reconnaissance flights in Gaza stalls prisoner swap deal — source

It is noted that the US side referred to Doha a proposal to suspend flights for six hours on one of the ceasefire days

BEIRUT, November 20. /TASS/. Israel’s refusal to suspend reconnaissance flights over the Gaza Strip is throwing a wrench in prisoner swap negotiations with Hamas, a Palestinian diplomatic source in Beirut, which is close to Arab mediators in the Doha talks, told TASS on Monday.

"The [Benjamin] Netanyahu government refuses to agree to suspend reconnaissance flights over the Gaza Strip for a five-day period when the deal will be carried out," the source said, adding that the US side referred to Doha a proposal to suspend flights for six hours on one of the ceasefire days. Hamas, however, has not given its consent.

According to the source, Palestinian radicals insist on this, since they are afraid that Israel might find secret places where Hamas is holding hostages taken during the October 7 attack. The radicals, in his words, want a total "cessation of hostilities on the ground, at sea and in the air for the ceasefire period."
