NATO Military Committee arrives in Georgia to be briefed on defense reforms

TBILISI, November 8. /TASS/. The NATO Military Committee headed by Admiral Rob Bauer has arrived in Georgia to be briefed about the progress the republic is making in connection with its wish to join the NATO Alliance, the Georgian defense ministry's press service reported.

"The NATO Military Committee arrived in Georgia on a two-day visit. The head of the Military Committee, Admiral Rob Bauer, was met by Georgian Defense Minister Juansher Burchuladze. <...> The parties discussed Georgia's progress in the defense reform process. They noted the importance of the participation of the Georgian Defense Forces in joint exercises and holding international exercises in Georgia, as well as Georgia's important contribution to international security," the statement reads.

Burchuladze and Bauer also discussed regional security issues and current challenges. The Georgian Defense Minister and the head of the NATO Military Committee touched upon the topic of cooperation with the alliance and prospects for developing cooperation, the Defense Ministry added.

This is the fifth time the NATO Military Committee has visited Georgia. Within the framework of the visit, the committee members plan to visit the inter-agency Georgian exercise Didgori-2023 and hold a plenary session in Tbilisi.
