SEOUL, September 26. /TASS/. Nuclear weapons cannot guarantee the security of North Korea as their use against Seoul will lead to the 'end of the regime' by the South Korean and the US armed forces, South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol said.
"The North Korean regime must clearly understand that nuclear weapons can never guarantee its security. Based on combat readiness and capabilities, our military will respond immediately to any North Korean provocation. If North Korea uses nuclear weapons, the response of the South Korea-US alliance will lead to the end of its regime," the president said at a ceremony marking the 75th anniversary of the founding of the South Korean armed forces.
The celebration falls on October 1, but the parade and ceremony were moved to September 26 due to the Chuseok national holiday weekend. The parade will be held in downtown Seoul for the first time in 10 years.
Yoon Suk Yeol also said he would continue to strengthen cooperation with the US and Japan. "Moreover, our people will never be deceived by the false tricks and false peace promises of the North Korean communist regime, its supporters and anti-state forces," the president added. The South Korean leader also pointed out that the government intends to support the military-industrial industry.
