TOKYO, September 13. /TASS/. North Korea has launched two missiles, presumed to be ballistic ones, the Japanese coast guard said on Wednesday.
The service urged vessels in the area to stay away from the missile’s debris and contact officials immediately if they spot any fragments.
According to the coast guards, the missiles were fired at 11:46 a.m. and 11:55 a.m. local time (05:46 a.m. and 05:55 a.m. Moscow time).
The Defense Ministry of Japan said the missiles covered the distance of 350 km and 650 km, respectively, and fell outside Japan’s exclusive economic zone. No damage has been reported.
Meanwhile, South Korea’s Yonhap news agency reported, citing the Joint Chiefs of Staff, that two short-range ballistic missiles were fired from the Sunan area near Pyongyang.
The Japanese Defense Ministry said the missiles probably had the capacity to change their flight paths. The country’s defense experts are analyzing the available information to confirm this theory.
Japan’s Chief Cabinet Secretary Hirokazu Matsuno said his country had expressed its protest to North Korea.
"In connection with the recent launches, we expressed a resolute protest to North Korea via the embassy in Beijing," he said.
