GENICHESK, March 14. /TASS/. Kherson will soon return under the control of the Russian forces. The Ukrainian military no longer relies on the support of the local population, as people have finally understood who is who, Acting Governor of the Kherson Region Vladimir Saldo said.
"To be honest, here is my impression: I am ready to return to Kherson tomorrow and start its reconstruction. However, there is such a thing as a military secret. So far I can only tell you one thing: it will happen in the foreseeable future. And to back up this statement, I will reveal the situation on the ground: the Ukrainian armed forces no longer rely on the support of those citizens who stayed behind," Saldo told TASS in an interview.
He pointed out that those who remained in Kherson waiting for the return of the Kiev authorities have changed their mind. "Those who have been waiting (to return under Ukrainian control - TASS) got what they wanted. Now they have to reconsider who is who and how to treat people. So far, everything that is happening in the city suggests that the Kiev authorities are not so sure they can retain control of Kherson. They are taking out material assets, they are stealing cultural assets from Kherson's museums, and they are trying to force doctors to move from Kherson to western Ukraine," Saldo stressed.
