Russian ministry mulls expanding rescue team to aid quake-stricken Turkey

According to the ministry, more than 100 Russian rescuers are carrying out relief efforts in Turkey’s Kahramanmaras province

KAHRAMANMARAS /Turkey/, February 7. /TASS/. Daniil Martynov, an adviser to the emergencies minister, said on Tuesday that the ministry is looking into expanding its rescue teams to provide assistance in the earthquake-stricken areas of Turkey.

"Probably, we will expand our grouping and send a second team," he said.

Meanwhile, First Deputy Emergencies Minister Alexander Chupriyan said that Russian rescuers would work in Turkey as long as the search and rescue operation continues. "The work will continue until the Turkish side says: ‘that’s enough,’" he said.

According to the ministry, more than 100 Russian rescuers are carrying out relief efforts in Turkey’s Kahramanmaras province, the area hardest hit by the devastating earthquake.
