Russia registers 6,941 coronavirus cases in 24 hours, 40 related deaths

The number of confirmed cases in Moscow increased by 1,967

MOSCOW, January 29. /TASS/. The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Russia grew by 6,941 in the past 24 hours, whereas the number of coronavirus-related deaths rose by 40, the federal anti-coronavirus crisis center reported on Sunday.

On the previous day 7,219 coronavirus cases and 42 related deaths were registered in the country, while figures since the beginning of the pandemic reached 21,938,421 and 394,984, respectively.

The number of recoveries increased by 3,612 in 24 hours compared with 4,384 on the previous day, bringing the total number of recoveries to 21,339,316.

The number of coronavirus patients taken to hospital in the past 24 hours amounted to 495, which is 49.9% lower than on the previous day when 989 coronavirus patients were hospitalized. The number of people taken to hospital decreased in 59 regions and rose in 15 regions, whereas in 11 regions the situation did not change.

Situation in Moscow

The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Moscow increased by 1,967 in the past 24 hours compared with 2,117 on the previous day, according to the information posted on Sunday on the government’s website, which keeps the public updated on the pandemic situation nationwide.

The total number of cases registered in the capital since the beginning of the pandemic currently stands at 3,343,860.

The number of coronavirus-related deaths rose by 11 in the past 24 hours in the city, same as on the previous day, to 47,864, while the number of recoveries increased by 1,207 during the day to 3,145,592.

Moscow Region

The number of confirmed coronavirus cases rose by 284 in the Moscow Region in 24 hours compared with 335 on the previous day.

The total number of cases registered in the region since the beginning of the pandemic equals 1,132,806. The number of recoveries increased by 41 to 1,113,382. No coronavirus-related deaths were registered in Moscow Region in the reporting period.

St. Petersburg

The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in St. Petersburg, Russia’s second-biggest city, increased by 728 in the past 24 hours compared with 733 on the previous day.

The total number of cases registered in the city since the beginning of the pandemic equals 1,843,620.

The number of recoveries rose by 388 in St. Petersburg in the past 24 hours to 1,800,303, while the number of coronavirus-related deaths grew by 9 to 36,905.
