Interior Ministry says 80 kg of explosives found in missile fragment that fell in Moldova

On Saturday, Moldovan border guards reported finding missile fragments near Larga, on the border with Ukraine

CHISINAU, January 15. /TASS/. About 80 kilograms of explosives have been found by Moldovan sappers in the warhead of a missile fragment that fell in northern Moldova, the republic's Interior Ministry reported on Sunday on its Facebook (a social media site banned in Russia since it is owned by Meta corporation deemed extremist by the Russian authorities).

"The sappers found the warhead at the site of the missile's fall. According to preliminary information, the warhead is filled with about 80 kilograms of explosives," the report stressed.

On Saturday, Moldovan border guards reported finding missile fragments near Larga, on the border with Ukraine. At the same time, the Moldovan Defense Ministry recorded no violation of airspace of the country.

This is the third case of a missile or its fragments falling on the territory of the republic during the period of the special military operation in Ukraine. The Moldovan authorities still do not disclose data about the ownership of both the fragments and the missile that fell and exploded on October 31 near the Moldovan settlement of Naslavcea. However, after that incident, the Russian envoy in Chisinau, Oleg Vasnetsov, was protested and later a member of the diplomatic mission was expelled from the republic.
