Republican Party wins midterm elections, Trump says

Former US President had claimed earlier that the Republican Party would take control of both chambers of Congress

NEW YORK, November 11. /TASS/. The results that the Republican Party achieved in the US midterm elections can be considered a victory, former US President Donald Trump said.

"We won! Pelosi (Democrat and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi - TASS) is gone, we take the Congress and if we can stop their very obvious cheating, will also take the Senate. Big victory, don’t be stupid. Stand on the rooftops and shout it out loud!" he wrote on his Truth Social platform.

The US held its midterm elections on November 8. Trump had claimed earlier that the Republican Party would take control of both chambers of Congress. He has personally supported many candidates. Ballots are still being processed and although the Republicans have not even secured a majority in the House, they are very likely to do so in the coming days. The future of the Senate will be decided on December 6 when Georgia holds its runoff election. A number of pro-Republican media outlets have already lambasted Trump for the party’s poor performance, suggesting that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis would be a better candidate for president in 2024.
