EU unveils how much it’s shelling out to restore Ukraine’s electricity supplies

As Ursula von der Leyen said, 400 power generations have been provided so far

BERLIN, October 25. /TASS/. The European Union will allocate €1 billion to Ukraine in emergency aid as well as 400 electric power generators for the immediate resumption of power supplies, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said.

"Russia is targeting civilian infrastructure, in particular energy," she said speaking at an international conference on rebuilding Ukraine in Berlin.

"So we are working with Ukraine to repair this infrastructure now with €1 billion in emergency assistance. We have also provided 400 power generators so far…," she stated.

Addressing the conference, she pledged that the European Union would be allotting Kiev €1.5 billion a month and also proposed that the European Commission should be responsible for administering the funds for the long-term restoration of Ukraine, which would require over €350 billion.

Berlin is serving as the host for this international conference on the reconstruction of Ukraine, organized by the Group of Seven. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen spoke at its commencement.

The conference is also attended by experts, international organizations, analysts, scientists and representatives of civil society.
