DONETSK, June 25. /TASS/. Full restoration of the city of Mariupol will take from three to five years, Alexander Kofman, Chairman of the Public Chamber of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), told TASS on Saturday.

"In this situation, I would rely on the experience of restoring Grozny. If I'm not mistaken, it took from three to five years. The same period will be required for the restoration of Mariupol," he said.

Fighting for Mariupol in the special military operation of the Russian Armed Forces in Ukraine began on February 25. After Ukrainian security forces were knocked out of residential areas, the remnants of the group, including fighters of the neo-Nazi Azov battalion, took refuge in the industrial zone of the Azovstal steel plant for some time. On May 20, Russian Defense Ministry Spokesman Major-General Igor Konashenkov said that that the Russian military had completely liberated the territory of the enterprise. The city is incrementally returning to peaceful life: The operation of public transport has been resumed on some routes, the territory of the city is being cleaned, public utilities companies are working to restore water and power supply.
