West seeks domination in IT space — Russian Security Council’s secretary

Nikolay Patrushev also noted that the number of challenges to information security is steadily growing

YEREVAN, June 17. /TASS/. The United States and its allies wish to achieve total domination of the cyberspace and to dictate their own rules and regulations to the whole world, the Secretary of Russia’s Security Council, Nikolay Patrushev, said on Friday. Speaking at a meeting with his CSTO counterparts in Yerevan, Patrushev urged special attention to the information sphere.

"As analysis shows, the number of challenges to information security is steadily growing, first of all, due to the growing ambitions of the United States and its allies to ensure complete dominance in the cyberspace, to dictate to the whole world their own rules and regulations in the field of information and communication technologies regardless of the opinion of sovereign states," Patrushev stated.

He drew attention to the fact that about a hundred US-funded non-government news agencies had opened in the last decade in the post-Soviet space.

"The embassies of the United States and a number of European countries issue grants and organize training sessions for civil servants. Washington is also aimed at changing school and university education by supporting the best students’ trips to the US, from where they return in the capacity of propagandists ready to press for so-called democratic changes and creating a favorable environment for color revolution scenarios," he said.
