Moscow may count on swift recognition of Russian inoculation in EU, Kremlin says

According to Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin has no complaints with regards to Russian agencies involved in the processes of certifying the vaccine and recognizing the fact of inoculation

MOSCOW, October 21. /TASS/. The mutual recognition of coronavirus vaccination between Russia and Europe may occur sooner than the certification of a Russian jab in the EU, Kremlin Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov told journalists on Thursday.

"Simultaneously with this (the certification of the Russian vaccine against coronavirus in Europe), the process of mutual recognition of inoculations is underway. It’s a different process [that also includes] talks conducted by our Health Ministry with the European Union," the Kremlin official noted.

"Perhaps, in this case it is even possible to count on a more accelerated act of mutually recognizing the fact of vaccination which will allow our citizens to move freely about EU territory. Those who got jabs here with our vaccines," the spokesman stressed.

The press secretary noted that the Kremlin has no complaints with regards to Russian agencies involved in the processes of certifying the vaccine and recognizing the fact of inoculation. "A special agency is taking care of it, the presidential administration cannot be involved in this and is not supposed to be," he explained. According to the spokesman, "actually, this is about specific conditions that are necessary for the certification [of the vaccine], this is about the comparison of criteria that the Europeans require and that are submitted by the Russian side".
