West bankrolling efforts to undermine Russia’s legislative elections, CEC chief says

According to Ella Pamfilova, the scale of that endeavor is ‘unprecedented’

MOSCOW, September 15. /TASS/. Deliberate efforts at discrediting the upcoming legislative elections in Russia have been in progress on an unprecedented scale, and Moscow’s Western "partners" have been shelling out money quite generously on this scheme, Chairperson of Russia’s Central Election Commission (CEC) Ella Pamfilova said in an interview with Rossiyskaya Gazeta on Wednesday.

"Calculated efforts at discrediting the elections have been underway for a long time, they are well organized and well financed by [our] Western ‘partners’. They are not so clumsy as before, but, nevertheless, they are no less unscrupulous and hypocritical," she emphasized.

According to Pamfilova, the scale of that endeavor is ‘unprecedented.’ "All our ‘fresh’ emigration is available to carry water for that lucrative corner. Every day, we fend off all sorts of abuse, and we are no stranger to that. I am sure that our people will figure everything out on their own, without hypocritical recommendations from the outside," she stressed.

Elections to the Russian State Duma (lower house) are scheduled for September 19, 2021. The balloting will span across three days - September 17, 18, and 19. The single voting day will also include elections of nine governors and 39 regional parliaments.
