Ukraine reports significant COVID-19 case spike for second day in a row

The total case count in Ukraine has reached 1,325,841

KIEV, February 25. /TASS/. In the past 24 hours, 8,147 new Covid cases were registered in Ukraine, which is almost 40% more than one day earlier (5,850 cases), Ukrainian Health Minister Maxim Stepanov said Thursday.

"On February 25, 8,147 new COVID-19 cases were registered in Ukraine," he wrote in his Facebook.

According to the minister, 2,770 people were hospitalized in the past 24 hours, while 3,889 patients have recovered, and 135 died.

The total case count in Ukraine has reached 1,325,841, with 1,159,311 recoveries and 25,596 fatalities.

A state of emergency and nationwide quarantine remains in effect until April 30. Starting on February 24, a so-called adaptive quarantine has entered effect, dividing regions into zones depending on the epidemiological threat level. Quarantine in Ivano-Frankovsk and Chernovtsy Regions was tightened due to deteriorating coronavirus situation.
