Putin believes dialogue is the best way to resolve the situation in Yemen

ANKARA, September 16. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin called dialogue between the parties to the conflict in Yemen the best way to resolve it.

"The best way to resolve this crisis is through agreements between all parties involved in the conflict," he stressed.

The war between the internationally-recognized Yemeni government and Houthi rebels from the Ansar Allah movement has been raging since August 2014. The conflict entered an active phase when a Saudi-led coalition invaded the country at the request of President Abdrabbuh Mansour Hadi. The Southern Transitional Council (STC) formally supports the government though it seeks to achieve its own goals in the war against the Houthis.

According to the Daily Star newspaper, the STC, created in 2017, controls most of southern Yemen and has the support of the United Arab Emirates that used to be a member of the Saudi-led coalition. In early July, the UAE announced a change in policy and started the withdrawal of troops from Yemen.

On September 14, the oil facilities of Suadia Arabian oil company Saudi Aramco were attacked by ten drones. Yemeni Houthi rebels from the Ansar Allah movement have claimed responsibility for the incident.

As a result of the attack, production of Saudi Arabia, the largest oil exporter in the world, plummeted by almost more than 50% - by 5.7 mln barrels per day from 10 mln barrels. This led to a sharp jump in oil prices.
