MOSCOW, March 17. /TASS/. Russian chess grandmaster Sergey Karjakin tops the ranking in the fourth round of Candidates Chess tournament in Moscow, after he played with draw result against Bulgarian national Veselin Topalov.

On March 17, the games between India’s Viswanathan Anand and Russia’s Peter Svidler; Topalov and Dutch Anish Giri; American Hikaru Nakamura and Armenian Levon Aronian; American Fabiano Caruana and Karjakin are scheduled.

The 2016 FIDE World Chess Candidates Tournament is a 14-round event, taking place in Moscow from March 10-30. The guaranteed prize fund is $420,000.

Eight chess players from Armenia, the United States, Russia, Bulgaria and India will be competing in the tournament for the next two weeks to determine the opponent for the Norwegian Grandmaster Magnus Carlsen. The winner of the tournament and defending World Champion Carlsen will clash for the world’s chess crown in New York in November at the 2016 FIDE World Chess Championship.
