Russian, Korean prime minister to meet on sidelines of Sochi Olympics

There are plans to discuss key issues of bilateral co-operation in the areas of trade, economics, investment, high technology and education

SOCHI, February 22. /ITAR-TASS/. Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev is expected to meet with his South Korean counterpart Chung Hong-won on the sidelines of the Olympic Winter Games in Russia’s Black Sea resort Sochi on Saturday.

“There are plans to discuss key issues of bilateral co-operation in the areas of trade, economics, investment, high technology and education,” the Russian government’s press service said.

The two prime ministers will exchange views and experiences in organizing international sports competitions. The South Korean town of PyeongChang will host the next Winter Olympics in 2018.

South Koreas’ Hospitality House has been opened in the Sochi Olympic Park since the very first day of the Sochi Games. About 15,000 visit this pavilion dedicated to the capital of the next Olympic Winter Games a day.

The House has three sections. The first one tells about sports facilities of the 2018 Olympics. Some of these facilities have already been built and their photos are exhibited here, along with 3D images of facilities under construction. It is expected that the 2018 Olympic Games will be organized after Sochi’s pattern, i.e. in two clusters - mountainous and lowland ones.

The second hall exhibits traditional Korean houses. The walls are decorated with pictures of landscapes and people wearing national cloths. Apart from that, the exhibition includes photos dedicated to the tea ceremony and Korean traditional martial art taekwondo. The pictures are slightly moving to give an impression of looking at waving leaves through a window.

The third hall is dedicated to traditional Korean medicine. Two medics offer the visitors to undergo a session of head and hands massage, needle therapy or traditional Korean smoke therapy. This section enjoys high popularity among visitors who stand in long queues to the massage lounger.
